Chinese New Year in CHINA has been a great experience so far (I say so far because we’re still in the middle of it). A tradition of the Chinese throughout the 15-day new year period is to just go absolutely insane with fireworks. Growing up in the US, you only really mess with fireworks during Independence Day (July 4th) and that’s kind of weak depending on how cool your neighborhood Dad’s are. But in China, it’s kind of more like whenever the eff you want. And for CNY especially, it’s almost in bad taste if you aren’t lighting some shit up across they sky on one of the CNY nights. I’m a bit old to mess with them first hand but it’s been fun watching the fireworks on the street with all the old men and little kids. Definitely lost some of my hearing but definitely gained some of my childhood back in the process.
What else is going on? Well, D has been cooking up a storm lately so I’ve also been fattening up with all the delicious meals being cooked at home….
Aside from that, just enjoying working with some new people and the occasional walk home in the snow.
More travelling and hotel rooms coming this year, so just gonna jumpstart it off with this one from last week.
